Beagle Welfare Publications
Beagle Welfare currently produce two booklets which contain additional useful information about the breed and details of what to expect if you wish to give a new home to a Beagle.
Beagles as Pets

Beagles as Pets was originally compiled in 1991 by Sally Kimber with contributions from Penny Carmichael, Ailish D’Arcy and many others for Beagle Welfare and for the Beagle Association. The contents of this booklet have been adapted from a contribution from Helen Rogers, a long time Area Officer who, over the years, has kennelled many ‘difficult’ hounds for Beagle Welfare. It was updated in 2004 by Sue Fielding, with additional contributions from Helen Rogers and Sam Goldberg. It is for the use of all breed clubs and for the benefit and education of existing and future beagle owners.
No part of this publication may be produced in any form or by any means without the prior, written permission of Beagle Welfare. In the first instance, contact the National Secretary.
A full copy can be downloaded from the Resources section of this website. A printed copy can be ordered direct from Beagle Welfare - please see further details below.
Understanding your Beagle

This booklet, aims to give practical help with some of the more common problems that people will experience when they bring home a Beagle. Some of the sections, including House Training, apply equally to any breed of dog and others, such as Recalls, are aimed a little more at Beagles in particular. All of the methods are tried, tested and Beagle friendly.
This booklet was produced by Beagle Welfare and written by Alex Johnson BSc (Hons), PGCE Adv Cert, Canine Behaviour & Training (COAPE), Member of Association of Pet Dog Trainers (No 654). Its publication has been made possible thanks to generous legacies left to the Charity.
Selected extracts can be downloaded from the Resources section of this website. A COMPLETE printed copy can be ordered direct from Beagle Welfare - please see further details below.
