Always buy a puppy from a reputable breeder where you will see the puppies with their mother and sometines the father. Never obtain a puppy from a pet shop, puppy dealer, a market or from a puppy super-store.
The secretaries of Beagle Breed Clubs are the best place to start as they often have details of breeders who have puppies available, and many have Codes of Conduct, which cover the responsible way to breed and sell puppies.
The Kennel Club or your local veterinary surgeon may also be able to give you the names and addresses of reputable breeders in your area.
